This fully online course requires participation in weekly activities with your peers and your instructor. These activities include written discussions with Wednesday (first post) and Saturday night (reply posts) deadlines; class-wide annotation activities using Hypothesis (for readings) and Annoto (for videos); as well as one or two short, informal writing or speaking assignments. There are weekly quizzes and two tests (a midterm and final). I have recorded lectures discussing the material, with slides to serve as an outline or study guide. Occasionally other videos are provided in lieu of lectures.

You will need the required textbook for this course. Please get a copy prior to the start of the course or find the PCC library copy that you can access (for free!).

Each week of my course opens at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday morning, and you will have until the following Saturday at 11:59 p.m. to complete the week's activities, with occasional midweek deadlines for discussions. There are ten full weeks of work. In the eleventh week, you will complete your final test.

I will send out an updated syllabus with details of my grading system, my late work policy, a calendar of work for the term, and lots of other important information about a week prior to the start of our course.
