  • DESCRIPTION OF SAFETY CONCERN: Campus Public Safety has received multiple reports of concerning behavior involving an individual who has repeatedly followed and approached students in areas immediately adjacent to campus. The behavior has included unwanted contact, unsolicited sexual comments, and attempts to corner individuals near bus stops. A new incident was reported this evening involving similar conduct. Community members are encouraged to remain aware of their surroundings, avoid isolated areas when possible, and report any suspicious or concerning behavior to Public Safety immediately.

Safety alert: Cascade Bookstore Burglary

The above pictured subject is believed to be involved in at least 5 burglaries in the area surrounding PCC Cascade Campus. All 5 burglaries occurred between the hours of 0300 and 0600 hours. Suspect appears to be a black male, possibly bald or has a shaved head. On multiple occasions, the suspect has been seen wearing red gloves and red shoes (possibly Adidas brand), and most recently with white and grey sneakers. The suspect is associated with a two-tone white GMC Suburban with distinctive lower door trim that appears to be medium grey and dark grey or black, with a chrome step or step-bar, and tinted windows.

˿Ƶ (PCC) Department of Public Safety would like to alert the Southeast Campus community regarding an indecent exposure that reportedly occurred on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at approximately 5:40pm at SE 80th and Grant St., which is located west of campus parking lot C.

According to the reporting party, a Southeast Campus student, she was walking in the area when the suspect flashed his genitals at her from across the street. She yelled at him that she was calling the police and he left the area on foot, northbound on 80th, without further incident. Public Safety was notified following the incident and checked the area for the suspect. He was not located.

The suspect is described as an older white male in his 60s with a bushy white beard. He was wearing a tan cap, gray button-up top over a white t-shirt and light blue jeans. The incident remains under investigation and Public Safety is increasing patrols in the area.

Public Safety would like to remind everyone of the following safety tips:

  • When possible, always walk with another person.
  • Remain alert and aware of your surroundings.
  • Try to remain in well-lit, busy, and populated areas.
  • If confronted by a flasher, try to leave the situation as quickly and calmly as possible, without giving him the reaction he seeks.
  • If the flasher comes toward you, yell for help, and run toward safety.

PCC Department of Public Safety would like to alert the Southeast Campus Community regarding a sexual assault and attempted robbery that reportedly occurred on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at approximately 8pm in parking lot D.

According to the reporting party, a Southeast Campus student, she was walking to her car when two subjects approached her and forced her to the ground. One suspect attempted to grab her purse while the second suspect inappropriately touched her. The student reported that she screamed, and the men fled the scene. Afterwards she got into her car and left. Public Safety was notified Friday morning, 9/27/19 of the incident as well as Portland Police.

Both suspects are described as black males one wearing a black sweatshirt and the other a red jacket. The incident remains under investigation and surveillance video is being retrieved to assist in identifying the suspects.

  • When possible always walk with another person.
  • Remain alert and aware of your surroundings.
  • If you feel you are being followed, walk toward a building, office or other safe space.

Rock Creek: August 27, 2019 /public-safety/2019/08/29/rock-creek-august-27-2019/ Fri, 30 Aug 2019 00:17:10 +0000 /public-safety/?p=979 The ˿Ƶ Department of Public Safety has issued this Safety Alert to make you aware of a potential threat in the area.

On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at 12:42 a.m., a young woman was walking home from work when she noticed a man was approaching her from behind. The man engaged her in conversation, inquiring about her name, age and destination before offering her illegal narcotics. The young women tried to walk away from the man but he followed her into her apartment complex near 185th Avenue and Rock Creek Blvd. The male then grabbed the woman’s backpack and covered her mouth with his hand when she began to scream. At this point, a friend of the woman heard her screams and came to her aid. The suspect then fled on foot. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult in his early twenties, approximately 5’9” or 5’10” tall, with a slim build and a thin mustache/goatee. The suspect was wearing a plain white T-shirt and green or khaki pants. Detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public assistance to identify this suspect. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call detectives at 503-846-2500.

In closing, when it comes to personal safety do your best to remember these crime prevention tips:

  • Avoid walking or jogging alone at night if possible.
  • Be alert, observant, and aware of your surroundings and people around you.
  • Avoid dark, vacant, or deserted areas.
  • If you are followed or see suspicious activity move to a public area (lighted when at night) and act in a manner that will draw attention to you, e.g. yelling.
  • If a stranger attempts to engage you in conversation, use discretion before stopping to talk. It is a good idea to say you are in a hurry to meet someone.
  • Carry your keys, identification, and anything else of value on your person.
