Newberg, Gaston students get down to business at PCC center

More than 50 high school students from Newberg and Gaston gathered at ˿Ƶ’s Newberg Center on Thursday, April 16, for “Ready or Not,” a high-energy, hands-on youth event hosted by PCC and the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership.
In an interactive business simulation, students stepped inside a fictional manufacturing company and worked through real-world challenges that tested how they think, communicate and make decisions. With facilitator Eric Hedaa (president of Industrial Game & Design) and industry partners, including in Newberg, stationed at every table, teams competed head-to-head as they planned strategy, analyzed data, made operational and financial decisions, and responded to shifting market conditions.
The fast-paced exercise gave students practical insight into both the production and business sides of manufacturing, lessons that often take years of experience to gain.
Spring classes are underway at Newberg Center. For more information, call 971-722-8602 or visit .
