˿Ƶ sets DeBernardis remembrance ceremony
Photos and story by James Hill
A remembrance ceremony for the late Dr. Amo DeBernardis (March 14, 1913 to Feb. 19, 2010) is set for 4 to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, Performing Arts Center, Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. DeBernardis, the founding president of ˿Ƶ, will be honored and celebrated by family and friends.
“Dr. De” as he was known, served as president from 1961 to 1979 and how PCC looks and functions today is a credit to his pioneering vision. His colorful and often blunt way, helped mold PCC into a dynamic multi-campus community college during an era when most believed a community college in Portland would fail.
