Miniatures class views art from a smaller scale

Photos and story by

HILLSBORO, Ore. – It’s the little things that matter most or so the old saying goes. A new non-credit class offered by Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ shows how this can be true even when it comes to art. Miniatures Living Little is your opportunity to learn how to create treasures on a small scale, and then discover how they can become works of art when grouped and displayed with creativity. Students will learn basic building and wallpaper techniques while creating a quarter-inch, scaled two-room box that fits in a four-inch square acrylic cube. Project opportunities include building a piece of furniture or embellishing other pre-made pieces. The two-part class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan.18 through Jan. 25, in Room 162 at Glencoe High School, 2700 N.W. Glencoe Road in Hillsboro. Cost is $29 plus a $55 material fee.
