Hiring Manager / Onboarding Lead

The hiring manager or onboarding lead plays an essential role which is primarily centered around:

  • communicating with the new hire prior to their start date
  • facilitating the new hire process and providing a warm welcome
  • setting expectations for the team
  • setting expectations for the employee on job duties and schedules
  • orienting the new employee to departmental protocols, processes, mission, and goals
  • scheduling meetings and relationship-building activities between the employee and key partners for creating connections and support
  • overseeing the new employee’s training and professional development

Support Personnel / Team Members

The support personnel / team members’ role is primarily centered around:

  • administrative support
  • providing a warm welcome
  • ensuring the employee’s work space is ready for them
  • ensuring the employee has all the access (technological and otherwise) they need in order to perform their duties by day one

Onboarding Ambassador

The Onboarding Ambassador is a volunteer support person that partners with the new employee while they are transitioning into the workplace. The role is primarily centered around:

  • providing a warm welcome
  • orienting and integrating the new employee into their work space, work culture, social norms, and policies and procedures
