This collaged ink drawing on old newspapers is a preliminary study for Widman's "Exotic History," a large oil painting in the collection. Â The abstraction of the figure in brush and ink was an ongoing investigation by Widman, who was interested in the limits of exaggeration and reduction. Â The results often quirkily combine the Paleolithic and the Modern.
